Mark Kness is an artist in the truest sense of the word. By day, he works magic with engines to make classic cars run beautifully, but during his leisure time, he creates beauty on his easel. Painting with acrylic, he creates wildlife images so life-like that you think you can reach out and touch the creature.
His painting is hardly a hobby, though - he has won the prestigious Minnesota Duck Stamp Contest in 2003 and more recently has procured the honors in Iowa for the 2009 Iowa Duck Stamp. He has placed as high as fourth in Federal Duck Stamp competition and continues to compete at the Federal and State levels.

In addition to painting birds, he does extraordinary work with dogs, coyotes and other elements in nature. One of his more recent creations is a moose traversing a body of water - it is absolutely stunning.
Mark is an unusually diverse artist. He can easily turn his talented brush from wildlife to hot rods, movie stars, buildings - virtually anything you can imagine - and does commission work for businesses and individuals.
Mark is self-taught and always up for the next challenging project that calls to him. He loves to explore the natural world and hunt with his camera. His eye for the beautiful in this world explains why his paintings captivate all who see them. He has begun to leave his mark upon the world of wildllife art - but it is truly just the beginning.
